What should I expect on my initial visit?

Your private treatment begins with a 1-hour session. During this initial meeting, we will discuss your health concerns, lifestyle, habits, and health goals. Generally, the intake will take 15-20 minutes, leaving the remaining time for the acupuncture treatment and other modalities when indicated. I will provide a diagnosis and prescribe a treatment plan to support you toward your health goals. As we work together, there is a continual check-in and adjustment of your treatment plan.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please come prepared with loose and comfortable clothing. Some people are most comfortable in yoga wear,

while others enjoy wearing a T-shirt and shorts, or sweatpants. The most optimal clothing is light, breathable, soft on both your skin and the practitioner’s hands, and that moves easily with your body during stretches or other physical body manipulations. Comfortable gowns are provided when needed.

For community acupuncture, wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy access to areas below your arms and legs.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Things to keep in mind before your treatment

  • Try to avoid caffeine within 3 hours of your appointment.

  • It’s best to have something light to eat an hour or so before your treatment, avoid being too hungry or too full during your treatment.

How often should I receive acupuncture?

Some health issues are specific and treatment will have a starting and ending point. You may also wish to have ongoing proactive sessions as part of your healthy lifestyle and balanced health plan. The treatment provides a space for deep relaxation for the growth and integration of mind, body, and spirit.

I am new to acupuncture, what can I expect?

During your acupuncture treatment, it is common to experience any number of sensations, such as tingling or a sense of heaviness in the body, and a deep feeling of relaxation. Many patients fall asleep during their acupuncture treatment.

How will acupuncture feel?

You may be concerned that acupuncture will hurt.  I can assure you that I have a very gentle approach and my patient's comfort is always the top priority.  I strive to provide a relaxing environment with continual open communication.

Quiet is greatly appreciated in the clinic. Please silence cell phones and speak softly. A peaceful atmosphere will enhance your relaxation and the relaxation of others.
